Open Jazz & Open Coed Jazz 

Division History

Get ready to see the best of the best jazz steps, ball changes, and chasses at The Dance Worlds. Throughout the history of the jazz dance style, dancers blended traditional African steps with European styles of movement to create what we know as jazz dance. This form of dance continues to develop alongside the popular music of the day. As Jazz continues to evolve the competitive division continues to bring fiery competition to the stage. 

The rhythmic accuracy of jazz routines brings an energy like no other. You're sure to see these teams bring an interpretive stylization of movement to their choreography! 

In 2021, The Vision Dance Center won the Open Jazz division alongside 5678! Dance Studio taking gold in the Open Coed Jazz division.  When it comes to jazz The Vision Dance Center historically has been a force to be reckoned with taking home five gold medals throughout the Open Jazz divisions. The team won the Open division in 2021 & 2019 as well as the International Open division from 2015 to 2017.

This year, 11 teams have earned a bid to compete at The Dance Worlds in the Open Jazz divisions. Six teams will battle for the Open Jazz title while five teams dance for gold in Open Coed Jazz.

GOLD: The Vision Dance Center - Open Jazz

Final Score: 92.9

The Vision Dance Center went back-to-back taking home gold in the Open Jazz competition with a 92.9! The team's all-black costumes and bright red gloves highlighted the precision in their movements and their attention to detail with a fun twist.

This season, the team put together an amazing routine and earned a bid to The Dance Worlds 2022 with their strong performance at the World Spirit Federation Grand Nationals. The Kentucky program will be back on stage at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in hopes of securing sweet victory yet again in this competitive division of six teams!

SILVER: Energizers

Final Score: 90.3

Energizers brought the energy from Wisconsin and took home the Open Jazz silver medals with a final score of 90.3. The Energizers' routine showed strength and unity across the entire floor. The team's technique in the lifts and leaps is stunning making this routine so captivating! 

BRONZE: Dance Etc Inc - Open Jazz

Final Score: 83.4

Taking the final spot on the podium was the Dance Ect Inc scoring 83.4 to earn the Open Jazz bronze medals. Dance Ect Inc took The Dance Worlds stage for the first time in 2021! Dance Ect Inc brought beautiful blue leotards that were just as stunning as their turn section to create wow factors in the Open Jazz routine. 

The team will be back at The Dance Worlds after earning a bid at the 2021 Athletic Championships.

GOLD: 5678! Dance Studio - Open All Stars

Final Score: 83.7

Due to the travel restrictions in place from the pandemic, 5678! Dance Studio brought the only team to compete in the Open Coedd Jazz division at The Dance Worlds 2021.

5678! Dance Studio maximized the scoresheet by highlighting individuals and groups and then coming together for big group movements so spectacular they scored an 83.7 to claim the gold medals.

This season, the team put together an amazing routine and earned a Bid to The Dance Worlds 2022 with their powerful performance at the DX Events AmeriCup. The team will be back on stage at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in hopes of going back-to-back in this competitive division of five teams!

Open Jazz: The Vision Dance Center

 The Vision Dance Center wowed the judges with their action-packed Open Jazz routine taking the top spot at WSF! The Kentucky team ended the weekend by securing a Partial-Paid Bid to defend their title at The Dance Worlds 2022!

NDA All-Star National Championship

Open Coed Jazz: Stars Steppers Dance

Fans got a good look at what we will be seeing at The Dance Worlds in just a few weeks when Stars Steppers Dance topped the Open Jazz division at NDA All-Star. The perfect mix of male and female athletes brought a crowd-engaging routine to the NDA stage that was full of fun music, big energy, and eye-catching tricks.

Semi-Finals for both the Open Jazz and Open Coed Jazz divisions will begin on Sunday, April 24th with Finals concluding on Monday, April 25th. Who will take home the Open Jazz and Open Coed Jazz titles in 2022? Be sure to watch these teams take the floor LIVE only on FloCheer!
